Survey in Kabardino-Balkaria: 58% of balkarians are ready to participate in protest actions

Most respondents (51%) feel that during the rule of M. Aliev social and economic situation in Dagestan did not change. 20% think that social and economic situation rather deteriorated and 7% - deteriorated. In opinion of 13% of respondents, situation in this sphere became better while 4% think that situation rather improved. Overall, most respondents think that social and economic in Dagestan did not change or became worse.

Respondents’ assessments of changes in security sphere were even more pessimistic. 27% believe that security in the republic rather deteriorated and 18% - deteriorated. 36% stated that security situation in Dagestan did not change. Only 3% stated that situation in this sphere improved and 7% - rather improved. 9% could not answer this question. In the course of the poll some respondents expressed their disappointment in current republican leder M. Aliev indication that his predecessor in that position M. Magomedov was better.

Critical stance of the respondents towards the authorities was manifested in their responses to a question on whom they consider responsible for increased violence in Dagestan. Almost one third of those polled (31%) tend to blame for increased violence “Islamic extremists”. At the same time, 23% are sure that special services are guilty for violence in the republic. 21% accuse of increased violence federal authorities and 18% - local authorities. 2% said that Dagestani Interior Ministry is directly responsible for the violence in the republic. In the words of these respondents, government of Dagestan is interested in destabilizing the security situation in the republic to get pretext to receive more financial help from Moscow.
